The Cares Initiative stands out as a commendable program designed to make a meaningful contribution to our community, particularly for the enrolled members residing in the Wounded Knee District. Often facing challenges, including limited access to essential resources and services, resulting in severe living conditions. In recognition of these obstacles, our initiative has been thoughtfully developed to implement multiple strategies to uplift the community through various forms of support.

In the peak summer of 2024, Alpha One took cases of water out of reserve and distributed them to community members in the Wounded Knee District who were without water. This initiative was primarily to aid our elderly and those living with elderly to ensure they have drinking water. (Pictured: Laura DeSersa)
In July 2024, Alpha One initiated a community event titled Super Soaker Day for the residents of the Wounded Knee Community. Recognizing that most children in this area cannot access swimming pools, the event provided an enjoyable opportunity for these youth to engage in recreational activities and cool off on a particularly warm day.
